Wifi @ Singapore Changi Airport

Despite the good review i had towards the facilities of Changi Airport in the previous post , there is this one thing that is a pain in the ass that makes me wonder why are they doing it this way.

It's the stuff u need to do just to utilize their free wifi facility.

Its Free, but...

The steps are as followed:

1. You log into Qmex website and register yourself.
2. In the process of the registration, u gotta give your mobile phone number (either its a local or international number with roaming)
3. You will be sent the username and password to your mobile phone.
4. Login at the Qmex website and then u can use the wifi facility for free.

Sounds easy? Hell no.

I did all the registration n stuff, and keyed in my Digi number that is currently roaming.

Guess what, i waited for at least an hour yet there is still no message coming in giving me the details.

After inquiring with the information counter, the lady told me they had feedbacks from their customers that it takes a long time for Qmex to actually send the sms, and offered to loan me a LAN cable.

Thus i ended up sitting at a station using the cable to go online.

Using LAN at one of the stations

Wouldn't it be easier if they just ask the customer to show their passport and boarding pass at the information counter, then is given the username or password? Or to submit our passport and boarding pass along with the physical key of our wifi network card to be recorded in the database to allow wifi access?

Sometimes people do like to do it the hard way instead of the easy way.
