9th July 2007. Day 8. Monday.
All of us decided to walk around the city after breakfast, and since i have already walked around the day before, i became the tour guide and brought my parents once again to Queen Elizabeth Building.
QVB close up...it was raining heavily...
The inside of QVB
We then walked to Pitt St Mall and shopped around there....it was almost lunch time when we arrived, thus the working crowd had started to flood the street....
Pitt St Mall
We searched for lunch, ate lunch (though i cannot remember now what we had), then we all took a taxi back to rest.
My parents are exhausted from the continuous activities since Melbourne till now...thus they decided to stay in the room to rest off the tired-ness for the rest of the day.
As for me, I rested for a while, then left the hotel, this time, is to meet up with lilia and her bf for dinner...
Now...she lives in King's Cross...which is the Red Light District of Sydney. My curiousity and underestimation of that place prompted me to go there earlier for an exploration.
King's Cross is located a few stations away from Town Hall; getting sick of walking and wanting to try the train system in Sydney, i walked to Town Hall Station and bought a two-way King's Cross Station ticket.
King's Cross Ticket. Two-Way. $3.40
We have seen a bus, we have seen a double-decker bus, we have seen a train, but have we seen a double-decker train? Go to Sydney.
Double Decker Train!
As i arrived to King's Cross, honestly, i got a shock. Sex shops, strip clubs and bars, prostitutes standing around, man standing aside dodgy-ly wanting to sell you girls, all these things, overwhelmed me with the sudden realization that no matter how advanced a city is, or looked like, will have a dark side of it that represents the other side of human nature. Now, i did not take any pictures due to the fear of getting into troubles for it, seriously, it was only 6pm but punks is already "patrolling" the streets in groups.
However, just walk two streets away to where my friend lives, the area changed and now resembles a peaceful residential area...amazing huh? These things do have their own boundaries.
Dinner was good. Home cooked food from lilia and yoong (her bf), and extreme hospitality from their 10 weeks old puppy Chico! Thanks guys =)
The day ended as i dragged my tired body back to the hotel...i would say, so far the Sydney trip has not disappoint me, except for the food and lifestyle of the place though ;)
