I've never been to a play before.
Now, the play i meant was the kind of show where people act on stage with sets and costumes and stuff like that.
A chance finally came, as Eric invited me to a play called The Empress Dowager & I on Saturday night.

The Poster (Picture from muctg.org)
This play is mainly about the Empress Ci Xi during the Qing Dynasty and how this slave girl named De Ling changed her prespective towards foreigners, and tried to save the Dynasty from declining through corruption and ignorance.
According the Eric, whats being shown in the play is partly true according to history and partly made up to enhance the whole play.
$15 per ticket
This play is being presented by CTG (Chinese Theatre Group) of Melbourne University, which Eric is the Activities Officer of it. Considering that the whole play including the producer, story lines, sets, costume, director, actors/actress, etc are all done by students, I would say that it is very successfully made =).
They present 2 plays a year, one will be in Cantonese, and the other one will be in Mandarin. This one that i watched is in Mandarin, and the actors and actress did an excellent job representing their characters with facial expressions, emotions and voice tones. Bravo!
Anywayz, more pictures for you to get a slight idea of how was it ;)
The Package
One of the scene where the characters were so angry they were practically yelling at each other
Kneel you mortals!! The Empress is pissed off!!!!
The Final Scene - The Dying of the Empress
The End of the Play
Well done, very well done. If you guys are interested in watching it, they are still performing on the 13th, 14th and 15th of September. Just visit CTG's Website or tell me you guys are interested and I will get Eric to sell u the ticket. =)
One warning though, the play is 3 and a half hours.
