Locked

Have you ever had a moment where you were so lost, so miserable and so guilty that your mind just blanked out, and you have no idea what you should do?

I just had that moment.

I left my keys in the house.

And I only realized it, right after the door clicked, and locked, shut.

I just locked Jia and myself outside our house.

I havent had this kinda feeling for a long long time. Usually, I always do find out solutions for troubles and ostacles, but this time, I really got defeated.

After getting over the stunned and helpless moment, my senses started returning to me and both of us started making phone calls around asking for help. Eventually it ended up calling this company called API Security, which provides locksmith's services 24/7 nationwide (Australia).

However, get ready for this, guess how much it cost us to use up 15 minutes of the locksmith's time to get the door open?

198 Aussie Dollars

Yeapz, thats how much it cost us. Blardy blasted a large hole in our pockets. -_-

Wondering what are we gonna eat in the next two months.

Good experience though. Maybe i should consider attaching my keys to my fingers permanently. -_- Instead of being Captain Hook, I can become Captain KEY. -_-

Anywayz, by the time you read this, I do suggest you save this number into your phone if you live in Aussie:

13 15 39

Thats the number of API Securities.

You will never know when you will need it. ;)

Self-Made Cooling System

In my previous post i mentioned that my IBM shuts off by itself when the GPU overheats...

It gets worse and worse as days pass by.

I got frustrated.

Then I got pissed.

Finally Im enraged.

To solve this problem, I finally came up with one solution:

1. First I got a novel that i bought and finished reading

2. Then I place it under my laptop, and ta-da!!!!!

I now got myself the simpliest and cheapest Notebook Cooler!!

-_-

Yea i know, its ugly, but hey, it works. My laptop no longer shuts down when im playing games, which further proven my theory of my GPU overheating. ;)

A Play in Melb Uni - The Empress Dowager & I

I've never been to a play before.

Now, the play i meant was the kind of show where people act on stage with sets and costumes and stuff like that.

A chance finally came, as Eric invited me to a play called The Empress Dowager & I on Saturday night.

The Poster (Picture from muctg.org)

This play is mainly about the Empress Ci Xi during the Qing Dynasty and how this slave girl named De Ling changed her prespective towards foreigners, and tried to save the Dynasty from declining through corruption and ignorance.

According the Eric, whats being shown in the play is partly true according to history and partly made up to enhance the whole play.

$15 per ticket

This play is being presented by CTG (Chinese Theatre Group) of Melbourne University, which Eric is the Activities Officer of it. Considering that the whole play including the producer, story lines, sets, costume, director, actors/actress, etc are all done by students, I would say that it is very successfully made =).

They present 2 plays a year, one will be in Cantonese, and the other one will be in Mandarin. This one that i watched is in Mandarin, and the actors and actress did an excellent job representing their characters with facial expressions, emotions and voice tones. Bravo!

Anywayz, more pictures for you to get a slight idea of how was it ;)

The Package

One of the scene where the characters were so angry they were practically yelling at each other

Kneel you mortals!! The Empress is pissed off!!!!

The Final Scene - The Dying of the Empress

The End of the Play

Well done, very well done. If you guys are interested in watching it, they are still performing on the 13th, 14th and 15th of September. Just visit CTG's Website or tell me you guys are interested and I will get Eric to sell u the ticket. =)

One warning though, the play is 3 and a half hours.

Brighton Beach...along with Sandringham Beach

Melbourne had been providing excellent weather lately.

So nice, that skies are blue, clouds are white, birds are chirping and flowers are blooming.

Thus, not wanting to miss this weather but in the same time to avoid the crowd, me n Jia has decided to visit the beaches that we had been wanting to explore long ago.

While waiting for the bus...

We took the 703 bus towards Middle Brighton (the last station), in which the bus driver changes shift in Oakleigh South. Overall it took us approximately 45 minutes to get there...and something weird about the bus is, the further we go, the more old people get on the bus. Seriously, at one point, its only me n Jia the young ones, the rest, including the bus driver, looks like they are more than 65 years old. 0_0

As we arrive Middle Brighton, it really does give us a total different feel. It feels so......Western?? -_- I mean...in Clayton, it feels more like a Chinese and Indian town, considering the local Aussies has a lower population than them. However, in Middle Brighton, we cant really see any Asians around...which totally changes the feel of it.

We walked around in Middle Brighton Town and decided to have lunch in this small cafe called The Alley Cafe, which is located right next to the train station. Operated by a Turkish husband and wife, although the cafe is small and empty, the food is pretty darn good. I ordered their special Omelette and Latte while Jia ordered a Hot Chocolate.

The omelette contains dried tomato, some kind of meat and some kind of leaves and some kind of spices =P. Not sure what is it, must be some turkish stuff, but it does taste damn good. =P

After the satisfying lunch, we took a train (one station away) from Middle Brighton to Brighton Beach.

Middle Brighton Station

One first thing we realize as we got off the train, is that the sky has suddenly became quite cloudy with dark clouds...

Dark clouds @ Brighton Beach

Then, we realized, "Hey, the beach is right there!"

See that tiny-winy portion of the sea between the gap?

You see, we werent sure if there is a beach here. Yes, the place is called Brighton Beach, but there is a place called Darling but no darlings there, a place called Batman but no batmen there as well, thus we wouldnt dare to assume that Bright Beach has a beach in it. =P

Anywayz, the fact that there IS a beach there got us scrambling across the roads to reach the beach, and...wa-la!! We were there in less than 5 minutes later:

The beach is half covered by dark clouds and blue skies

Me checking out the signs

This beach is beautiful. Just absolutely beautiful. Because its a Friday, the whole beach is empty and clean. The water is so clear that u can see through it to the bottom. This kinda beach can be seen in Malaysia only at places like Lang Tengah where u have to take a 10 hour bus ride then 2 hour boat ride to a preserved island with basically no facilities. This place took me 45 mins of bus ride and 3 mins of train ride.

Anywayz, some pics of Brighton Beach:

We left Brighton Beach, went to the train station, and went further down the Sandringham Line, to the end of it to be precise, to visit the Sandringham Beach.

Sandringham Station

Sandringham Beach is slightly smaller than Brighton's, but the water is still crystal clear, and its still beaufiful...and at this day at this time, it is also empty....

The trip ended as we left Sandringham beach and head home back to Clayton...

Tired day...

But I would say that its satisfying =)

Jaz Got A Haircut

While I was eating my dinner in Seoulia , an sms came in from my mum back in Malaysia:

"Send jaz 4 grooming w very short hair"

The moment i saw this msg, i was traumatized.

Now, last year, my poor Jaz got shaved. As in, shaved COMPLETELY.

Jaz got shaved. Dated Oct 14 2006

Another pic of him shaved. Dated Oct 14 2006

My heart was broken into pieces when i first saw those pics. What happened to my furry ball of Jaz?!

His "supposedly" look

So, please understand why I was traumatized when the sms came.

Anywayz, as I get to check my email, my dad has already sent me pictures of his new "hair cut". A click on the email, and these pictures revealed the answer:

His new look

O_o

He looks....young?

Its like a kid who got brought by his parents to the indian barber for that standard short hair cut -__-

Anywayz....more pics =)

Damn...I miss my dog.

Mike's Arrival and Seoulia BBQ

Mr Mike Guo came to Melbourne.

I havent seen him even since i left Xiamen, and that would be almost 4 years ago. As he has just finished his mid sem tests in Canberra, he decided to pay me and Eric a little visit. =P

We went to Seoulia BBQ in Box Hill for dinner. =)

It is basically a place where its approximately 25 dollars per person (the more people you have, the more discount you get), and u can take anything u want to eat. There is a variety of pork, beef, calamari, octopus, kimchi, veg and others. Of coz, you gotta BBQ them urself in one of these pig-tray-thinggy:

Yes, the tray thing do resembles a pig

Good times, as we get to catch up on stuff. Been a very long time since three of us get to gather together. The last time we had this was back in Xiamen. Now, the scene has finally replayed in Melbourne. =)

Just like the old days (From left: Me,Eric,Mike)

Me & Mike

Newayz, Seoulia is a good place to eat if you want something cheap and eat-all-you-can. But if u have a golden tongue and want real good BBQ, i wouldnt recommend this place.

Seoulia BBQ
Address: 980 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill.
Tel: 9899 2696

Hopefully there is one chance that all the XIS people will be able to gather once again.

But considering all of them are now around the world, this day might never come. =S
